How to use Ringleader

When you install Ringleader you must first setup your ringtone associations so that Ringleader knows what applications map to what ringtones. To do this, you must go into each of your application settings and re-choose your notification / ringtone sound using Ringleader. For example, to enable Ringleader to manage your Gmail ringtone, you would open the Gmail application and then select "Settings" from the menu. From within the settings menu for Gmail, choose "Select ringtone". You will be presented with a dialog entitled "Complete action using" and you must choose "Ringleader" at this point. You will now be able to select your desired ringtone and once this ringtone is chosen, you should now be able to see Gmail in the "Active Ringtones" tab within Ringleader. This is a one-time process to setup each of the applications that you want to manage within Ringleader.

You may have to reset your system defaults if you are not given an option to choose Ringleader as your ringtone picker. To do this, go to your Android Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications and search for "Android System". Tap on "Android System" and then choose "Clear defaults". If you are using another application as your default ringtone picker, then you would need to clear that application's defaults instead.

  1. In the Pro version, can you make profiles that ring only and no vibrate, or vibrate and ring, or no ring and only vibrate?

  2. Hi AAS,

I am planning on adding the ability to control the vibrate functionality within the different profiles. Currently, Ringleader has the ability to set ringtones to silent and adjust the ringtone and notification volume levels for each profile.

  5. Andy, check out Advanced Mode Scheduler. Your app with its scheduling functions would be awesome. I am a recent convert to Android from Windows Mobile and have been looking for a replacement for a program called Phone Alarm. Sounds like you vision may be what I have been waiting for. AMS is great at scheduling but only allows changing of ringtone and default notificaton. If you are not interested in all that, perhaps you could see if the AMR dev would be ingested in supporting triggering your profile switching. I see you are supporting tasker, but I have found it to be a source of instability and battery drian. Good luck and I will keep an eye on your app!

  6. Hi ACS_Stephen,

Thank you for the suggestion. I think it would be a great idea to incorporate scheduling ability within Ringleader. I will definitely be adding this to my list of items to look at as I am adding new features. I'll check-out the Advanced Mode Scheduler too... I think it would be pretty simple to implement the profile switching ability.
